Sri Lanka's garment industry is determined to turn the end of the quota era in 2005 into an opportunity for the future. A special industry-wide group called the Joint Apparel Association Forum is implementing a five-year growth strategy for the clothing sector - which accounted for 49 per cent of the country's total export earnings in 2002 - part of which aims to reposition the island as the intimate apparel capital of the world.
