The following is a general roundup of US apparel and shoe chains' October 2010 sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.
Teen retailer Hot Topic has reported revenues of US$46.9m, a decrease of 10.1%, for the month of October 2010. The retailer's same-store sales were down 10.7% for the period.
Destination Maternity Corporation, a maternity apparel retailer, reported net sales for the month up 2.6% to $45.5m, from $44.3m for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 0.8%.
Value retailer The Cato Corporation reported sales for the four weeks ended 30 October of $64.0m, a 3% increase over the four week period ended 31 October 2009. Same-store sales for the month increased 2%.
Apparel group Stage Stores reported that its total sales for October decreased 1.1% to $100m, while same-store sales decreased 3.5%.
Action sports retailer The Wet Seal reported that net sales were $42.7 for the month of October, up by 4.1%. Same-store sales were down 0.7% for the period.
Victoria's Secret operator Limited Brands posted a same-store sales increase of 9% for the four weeks. The company reported net sales of $617.3m, compared to net sales of $561.1m last year.
Denim chain The Buckle announced that same-store net sales for October increased 2.6%. Net sales for the month increased 6.7% to $71.1m from net sales of $66.6m for the prior year four-week fiscal month.
The Bon-Ton Stores announced same-store sales for the month down 4.2%. Total sales for the four weeks decreased 4.4% to $214.2m, compared with $224.0m for the prior year period.
Stein Mart posted a same-store sales decreased of 6.5% for October. The company's total sales for October were $85.5m, a decrease of 7.2% from $92.2 million in the same period in 2009.
Department store chain Dillard’s announced that merchandise sales for the four weeks of October were $356m, compared to sales of $362m in the prior year. Total sales declined 2%. Sales in comparable stores declined 1% for the four weeks.
Macy’s reported total sales of $1.807bn for the four weeks, an increase of 6.8% compared with total sales of $1.693bn in the four weeks last year. On a same-store basis, Macy’s sales were up 2.5% in October.
Gap Inc reported net sales up 4% to $1.19bn for the four-week period ended 30 October. The company’s comparable store sales for October 2010 were up 2% compared with a 4% increase in October 2009.
Trendy retailer Abercrombie & Fitch reported net sales of $226.8m for the four-week period ended 30 October, a 13% increase. October same-store sales increased 2%.
Ross Stores reported that sales for the four weeks increased 8% to $600m from $557m for the four weeks ended 31 October. Same-store sales for the month rose 4% on top of a 9% gain in the prior year.
Aeropostale, a mall-based specialty retailer, announced that total net sales for the four-week period increased 5% to $146.1m. The company's same-store sales decreased 2% for the month, compared to a same-store sales increase of 3% in the year ago period.
Ross Stores reported that sales for the four weeks ended increased 8% to $600m from $557m last year. Same-store sales for the month rose 4% on top of a 9% gain in the prior year.
Department store firm JC Penney Company reported that its same-store sales decreased 1.9% for the four-week period. The company said its total sales were $1.3bn, slightly down on the prior year period.
Kohl’s Corporation posted total sales for the month that were 1.0% lower than the same period last year. On a same-store basis, October sales decreased 2.5%.
General merchandiser The TJX Companies reported sales for the four-week period ended of $1.8bn, up 5% over the same period last year.
Retailer Saks Incorporated has reported sales of $233.9m for the month, compared to $219.9m for the same period last year, a 6.4% increase.
Luxury retailer Nordstrom reported a 3.4% increase in same-store sales for the month, compared with the same period last year. Preliminary total retail sales were $662m for October 2010, up 9.0%.
