Turkish apparel industry debates safeguard duties

Turkey's plan to introduce provisional safeguard duties on some woven fabric, apparel and accessory imports is intended to help local textile producers. But the move is also being questioned by domestic apparel manufacturers and brands, as Joe Ayling found out at last week's Istanbul Fashion Apparel Conference, where industry leaders discussed the dangers of protectionism.
