COMMENT: Don’t boycott Bangladeshi apparel
Bangladesh had a tough year in 2006, with clothing manufacturers hit by a spate of violence, transport and power strikes, and criticism over factory conditions. Despite all this, the Bangladeshi apparel industry managed to get garments out, more or less to time and budget. Mike Flanagan now suggests retailers, charities and the industry itself should adopt a more positive attitude to help Bangladesh through its difficult times.
