Acquisition of Bell
Bell Manufacturing Company has become a member of SML by virtue of an acquisition deal completed on 10 March 2006.
Bell has a whole manufacturing line for woven label in Maine, Lewiston. It will act as SML’s regional product development center in US, serving the domestic marketing activities. Bell will concentrate on sampling and product development with the aim of shortening the sampling process with excellent quality output.
With Bell’s strong customer base in Asia, SML is fully prepared with confidence to capture the anticipated business growth in Asia in the coming years.
Acquisition of RPDI
SML has just completed the acquisition of the asset/business of Retail Packaging Design Incorporated (RPDI), a Minneapolis-based hardlines packaging design company. A new company named SML Retail Packaging Design Inc. (SML RPDI) is formed for housing RPDI’s asset and operating its business immediately upon the deal closed on 1 June 2006.
RPDI is the precursor in hardlines package design in Minneapolis. It is a front-end packaging design firm capable of delivering highly customized packaging solutions to major retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City, K-Mart and Home Depot in US. The acquisition not only helps SML to enhance its package design capability, with advanced technique and extensive product categories like blisters & clamshells, but it also exposes SML to the major retailers in US which shall bring enormous market potential to SML.
SML RPDI add more variations to SML’s package design product and give SML an immediate presence in the retailers’ market, both of which give SML an advantageous position to boost the sales and widen the market shares.
