Sound safer tag launched in the UK

MW Security, the Swedish producer of retail security products such as safer cases have designed and patented a new clothing tag.

It is unique in that when tampered with, it sets off a screeching alarm of over 100 dcbs.

Clothing tags have become an established feature on the High St but the shoplifter is becoming more adept at finding ways of stealing.

MW’s General Manager in the UK, Richard Rees says:

‘ We have developed the sound safer as clearly more valuable clothing items need greater protection. The mere deterrent to a would be shoplifter of drawing attention to themselves by setting off a high pitched alarm in the changing room will be enough to make them think twice.’

The tag is designed to work alongside existing tags and not replace them. MW expect retailers to tag a small percentage of their stock in this way, with small signs in changing rooms stating that tampering with tags is likely to set off an alarm.

Richard added ‘ The tag can be used on all items where normal tags are used today. We are expecting it to become a regular fixture on the High St.’
