US: Altama wins $100m military footwear contract

Phoenix Footwear Group's Altama division has been awarded a new contract by the Department of Defense (DoD) for the purchase of hot weather infantry combat boots.

The contract is worth a maximum of $99.0m over a five-year period the Carlsbad, California based company said yesterday (10 July).

Altama has supplied military specification footwear to the US DoD for over 35 years, and also markets and distributes its products to federal, state and local agencies, military schools, law enforcement agencies and consumers around the world. It was acquired by Phoenix Footwear in 2004.

Phoenix Footwear makes men's and women's footwear, outdoor sportswear and travel apparel under brands including Tommy Bahama Footwear, Trotters, SoftWalk and HS Trask.
