Leading clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters Inc on Wednesday announced a 4.9 per cent fall in November same-store sales but said total sales rose three per cent to $143.9 million from $139.7m in the year-ago period.

The Pennsylvania-based operator of more than 800 stores said consolidated same-store sales, which include the results of its Bluenotes/Thriftys outlets in Canada, slipped 6.5 per cent with same-store sales at Bluenotes/Thriftys plunging 30.1 per cent.

It added the current fourth quarter First Call consensus estimate of 56 cents a share is in the range of its expectations and is based on a December comparable store sales decline in the low single-digits.
