HONDURAS: Anvil Knitwear gets first WRAPe certificate

By | 26 April 2010

Sportswear and accessories maker Anvil Knitwear has become the first manufacturer in the world to receive the WRAPe certification, which recognises environmentally responsible business practices at its textile mill in Honduras.

Developed with a group of environmental experts, the WRAPe enhanced environmental audit extends the existing compliance requirements offered by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP).

It is specifically intended for suppliers to apparel and footwear firms, and covers environmental management systems, waste discharge and the use of chemicals in the manufacturing process.

"This is an important milestone for Anvil and evidence of the social and environmental initiatives that we, as a company, continue to make," said Anvil's CEO Anthony Corsano.

Anvil Knitwear, which makes eco-friendly sportswear and accessories, has already been certified to WRAP's standard protocol.
