The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has called off its two-day-a-week strike, after holding a meeting with the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in Lahore on Sunday.

The Prime Minister assured the APTMA delegation that all issues regarding the textile industry would be resolved after consulting all the stakeholders.

The PM formed a three member inter-ministerial cabinet committee on textiles, including his advisor on finance, Hafeez Sheikh, defence minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, and state minister for economic affairs Hina Rabbani Khar to resolve the issue.

APTMA Punjab chairman Gohar Ejaz then ended strike and called for a swift resolution.

He said APTMA was never in favour of strikes, but it had to do so due to unavoidable circumstances.
