Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has announced plans to shift manufacturing of some goods away from China if rampant counterfeiting persists.

The designer, CEO of fashion house Giorgio Armani SpA, told reporters in Hong Kong that piracy was "still the issue in China" following a promotional trip to Beijing and Shanghai.

"I may have to move some of our production lines," he said.

"I saw some stores using our name but selling totally different things inside."
