Arun Sarin, former president of global wireless company AirTouch, has been appointed to Gap Inc's board of directors, company chairman Donald Fisher announced yesterday.

"We're extremely pleased to have Arun Sarin join our board. He's an outstanding leader and his experience in managing a global business will be a great benefit to Gap Inc," said Millard S Drexler, president and CEO.

Mr Sarin currently serves on the boards of directors of Vodafone AirTouch Plc, Charles Schwab Corporation and Cisco Systems Inc. He holds an MBA and an MS degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a BS in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
