Sportswear maker Asics Corp is to launch a sales push into South America through a new sales company in Brazil.

The firm, which is due to be set up by the end of this year as a spin-off from Asics' existing trademark management firm in Sao Paulo, will sell sports shoes and sportswear across the continent.

Key markets will include Brazil and Argentina, and the company is targeting sales of JPY5bn (US$0.04bn) for fiscal 2009.
