Authentic Brands Group (ABG) is adding to its growing portfolio by acquiring the Collective Licensing International footwear brands from Payless ShoeSource for an undisclosed sum.

The deal includes youth lifestyle, athletic, and board-sports inspired brands, including Airwalk, Hind, Vision Street Wear, and Above The Rim.

Authentic Brands Group, which most recently acquired Juicy Couture from Fifth & Pacific (now known as Kate Spade), also owns the Hickey Freeman, Spyder, Judith Leiber and Sportcraft brands.

Company chairman and CEO Jamie Salter believes Airwalk is "a great fit for the ABG portfolio", while Nick Woodhouse, president and chief marketing officer, said there is an "incredible opportunity" to grow each of the brands.

As part of the agreement, Payless will retain the right to market and sell Airwalk-branded products in its company-owned and franchise stores, and through e-commerce.

Each brand will continue to work with its existing licensees on expanding its US presence and product offering. ABG said it will move forward with a strategic plan to grow each brand's business internationally.

Payless ShoeSource operates more than 4,300 stores in more than 30 countries, with its global headquarters in Topeka, Kansas. Payless' parent company, Payless Holdings, is jointly owned by Golden Gate Capital and Blum Capital Partners.
