Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), the body that supports Australian wool growers and promotes their products overseas, has appointed Nagy Bensid as the head of its European branch, based in Paris.

Mr Bensid has taken on the role of regional manager, Europe after a career in the French and international wool industry.

He has worked as a general manager for Chargeurs wool and more recently of the Dewavrin group, and has also held several industry positions, including membership of the executive committee of the International Wool Federation.

His appointment is part of AWI's renewal strategy to maintain wool's position as a leading high-end fibre.
