US: Bon-Ton Stores dismisses COO Schrantz
By Petah Marian | 3 September 2012
US department store operator Bon-Ton Stores has eliminated the chief operating officer position and dismissed Barbara Schrantz, who currently holds the position.
The company said in an SEC filing on Friday (31 August) that the position would be terminated effective 14 September.
Schrantz was appointed as COO in January 2011, after joining the company in 2005, holding a series of senior management positions. Previously, she was executive vice president of sales promotion and marketing.
On Thursday, the company saw August sales edge up 2.1% to US$180.8m, which it attributed to its efforts in refining its merchandising assortment and delivering "clear, compelling marketing messages".
