Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp on Friday reported a 4.6 per cent rise in second quarter net sales to $778.6 million from $744.2m in the year-ago period.

The New Jersey-based operator of 333 stores said September comparative store sales fell 7.6 per cent, October comparative store sales increased 3.8 per cent and November comparative store sales slipped 0.6 per cent, compared with 2001.

It added net sales for the six months ended November 30 climbed 7.4 per cent to $1.28 billion from $1.19bn. During that period it opened 12 Burlington Coat Factory stores and four MJM Shoe stores.
