Performance textile manufacturer Burlington Industries is to reintroduce what it describes as the next generation of its Xalt waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric.

The company – a division of International Textile Group (ITG) – says the updated Xalt Xtreme all-weather laminate technology offers superior performance and protection, with technological innovations that are designed for all weather conditions.

Originally launched in the mid-1990s, Xalt fabrics offer exceptional protection, breathability and durability. Burlington says Xalt now features a more advanced film and adhesive technology, paired with its yarn innovations, Plaidology, and stretch heather constructions.

The Xalt group consists of three core components – specially engineered fabrics, breathable film technology and Burlington's Durepel Plus water-repellent finish.

Burlington's Xalt, Xtreme all weather laminate technology will be on show at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Show, which will take place from 7-10 January in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At the end of last year, Burlington Industries revealed it is to supply micro denier polyester fabrics to the US army for use in physical training (PT) shorts, in a deal worth US$8.4m.
