BRAZIL: Cherokee hires executive following licensing deal

Fashion company Cherokee has hired Lourdes Mestre as brand director for Mexico and Central and South America after striking a license deal with Brazilian retailer Grupo Pão de Acucar earlier this week.

Mark Nawrocki, senior zice president of Cherokee, said: "With our partners Comercial Mexicana in Mexico, Falabella's Tottus Stores in Chile and Peru, and the recent addition of Grupo Pão de Acucar in Brazil, the Cherokee brand will be one of the largest geographically diversified family brands around the world."

Howard Siegel, president of Cherokee, added: "Lourdes' multilingual skills, coupled with her long tenure as a merchant at Target Stores, will add great value. We look forward to much success throughout these burgeoning markets."

Cherokee now has licensing agreements for its brands with clients including Target Stores and Tesco, together with SACI Falabella in Chile and Peru and Comercial Mexicana of Mexico.
