UK: Chester Barrie launches wholesale collection

By | 5 January 2009

Savile Row men's wear brand Chester Barrie is to return to the wholesale market this month with the launch of a full collection for autumn/winter 09, targeted at luxury retailers and top-end department stores.

The collection has been created by designer Nick Tentis and sees the introduction of a new block, to complement the classic Chester Barrie shape, as well as a shirt and tie range to complete the look.

Inspired by the 1960s, the new block has a sharp, tailored feel with soft shoulders and a longer, fitted silhouette.

The emphasis throughout the range is on premium cloths, with a strong use of Super 150s and Super 180s and including cashmere for jackets and blazers.

Wholesale prices for the new collection start at GBP260 (US$377) for tailoring, while shirts are GBP35.

At the same time, a new team has been brought in to develop the brand and ensure its position in the luxury menswear market.

Will Palmer, formerly sales director at John Smedley and managing director of Wolford UK, is brand director while Simon Gash, once buying and merchandise director at Moss Bros, has joined to sell the wholesale collection.

Chester Barrie was bought by Prominent Europe in the summer of 2007 after it had been in the hands of a number of owners during the previous ten years.
