Columbia Sportswear announced today that it has purchased a new facility for its corporate headquarters from Minneapolis-based ADC Telecommunications. The transaction closed October 31, 2000. Columbia paid $13m for the new headquarters complex, which will house Columbia's corporate headquarters and the company's research, design and development facilities. "Columbia Sportswear has experienced dramatic growth in the past five years and we're finding that the space we have occupied for decades no longer meets our needs," said Tim Boyle, Columbia's president and chief executive officer.
