The Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce says that exposing clothing and textile products to competition from imports has moderated total inflation in the economy and helped plug gaps in the purchasing power of individual households.    A paper submitted by the organisation to Dalia Itzik, the Minister of Trade and Industry, explains that the situation has contributed to a 1.6 per cent fall in the price of clothing in Israel. The federation adds that it is opposed to any increase in tariffs or imposition of levies on imported textile products.
