JAPAN: Cooler weather lifts Uniqlo September sales
By Katie Smith | 2 October 2013
Fast Retailing has seen an 8.1% increase in same-store sales at its Japanese Uniqlo chain in September, as cooler weather boosted demand for its autumn/winter lines.
The casual clothing brand said same-store sales increased by 4.4% year-on-year, while total sales, including online, increased 7.5%.
Uniqlo attributed the growth to cooler weather during the second half of the month, which lifted sales of its silk, cashmere and other autumn/winter ranges.
The brand opened eight new stores and closed seven during September.
