Spanish fashion giant Cortefiel on Thursday posted a 97.1 per cent year-on-year plunge in first half net profit as it was hit by continued expansion into international markets and a charge for shutting an internet venture. The company said in a news release profit in the six months to August 31 plummeted to 393,000 euros while sales rose 3.7 per cent to 364.8 million euros. It also opened 37 new stores in the period.
