An Indian cotton mill company has announced it is launching a range of menswear aimed at the middle market.

The Nahar Group's Oswal Cotton Mills (OCML) is launching a range called Seven Oaks and aims to eventually dominate the branded apparel market with ready-to-wear clothing.

Until now, OCML has concentrated on fabric manufacture with 60 per cent being exported indirectly through Nepal, Bangladesh and West Asia.

But now the company is planning to expand into garment manufacture after figures reveal the domestic garment market is set to increase by 30 per cent this year.

And it says a clothing range for women and children is in the pipeline to complement its other ranges.

OCML recently launched trousers and T-shirts under its brand name, Monte Carlo, targeted at the top end of the market.
