Cone will offer Crailar Flax in its denim |
Leading American denim mill Cone Denim has signed a marketing and development agreement with fibre developer Crailar Technologies.
The deal, which goes live this month and lasts until December 2015, calls on Cone to market and develop the use of Crailar Flax – a natural fibre made from flax and other bast fibres – in its denim fabric line, which is sold to global brands in the fashion, work wear and casual lifestyle categories.
“We are honoured to name Cone Denim our preferred and exclusive partner for the development, marketing and manufacture of denim fabrics,” said Ken Barker, Crailar CEO.
“This is a significant move for Crailar because it puts our industry-leading fibre in the hands of one of the most innovative and prolific mills in the world, in one of the largest and sexiest categories in the apparel industry.”
Cone Denim, which is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, has manufacturing facilities in the US, Asia and Mexico. It operates as part of International Textile Group (ITG).
