Leather and suede clothing retailer Danier Leather Inc on Wednesday announced the appointment of Robert Hodges to the newly created position of general manager, US Operations.

The Toronto-based chain said in a statement Mr Hodges will assume primary responsibility for Danier's US store operations and play a key role in the company's international expansion.

It added Mr Hodges was the vice president of operations for Old Navy, with 25,000 employees, 850 stores and sales in excess of US $5 billion, from 1997 to 2001.

"With 20 years of hands-on management experience in a high-growth environment, Bob has retail in his veins. His knowledge and expertise will prove invaluable as Danier implements its US growth strategy in the coming years."
