RUSSIA: Debenhams to open first store in September

By | 27 March 2012

Debenhams is set to open its first Russian store in September at the Mega Belaya Dacha, Moscow's biggest shopping centre.

A spokesperson for the retailer told just-style that the store will be opened with its partner Debrus and includes its full offering.

"Our new store opening in Moscow gives Debenhams a great opportunity to bring the best of British design to the Russian high street," said Debenhams international director Francis McAuley.

"As well as trapper hats, ideal for the coldest of winters, we are sure our lace Reger by Janet Reger lingerie and Star by Julien Macdonald party dresses will be bestsellers amongst Muscovites.

McAuley said that many Russians are already customers of the retailer due to their travels to the UK and it is aiming to capitalise on its popularity by rolling out its department store offer across the country. "Russia plays an integral part in Debenhams' growth strategy as we plan to double the number of international franchise stores in the next five years".
