Industrial sewing thread company Donisthorpe & Company Limited will begin 2005 with a new name and new premises.

As of 1 January 2005, the company will be called Amann-Donisthorpe UK Limited, reflecting the successful partnership between Donisthorpe and its parent company of four years, international thread giant Amann and Söhne GmbH.

The company will move to a new site on the Gorse Hill Industrial Estate of Beaumont Leys in Leicester - three miles from its old site in Bath Lane.

The new Amann-Donisthorpe site will act as the head office of the Amann Group's international operations in the UK, Eire and Morocco.

The company's 30-strong UK workforce will be transferred, along with its stock of fashion, embroidery and technical threads, distribution, laboratory testing, colour analysis, international customer service, sales, technical and pre-production support facilities.

The company's Moroccan operation, which now employs over 60 people, will be unaffected by the changes.

Kenny McMaster, who will continue as managing director of Amann-Donisthorpe UK Limited said: "The move to new premises and our new identity will conclude a period of unprecedented change for the company."

He added that forces within the international textile industry had pushed the company to respond to its customers' international product and delivery needs by making adjustments.

Donisthorpe & Company Limited was acquired by the international thread group Amann and Söhne GmbH in January 2001. Donisthorpe currently supplies its products and services to over 4,500 UK and off-shore customers including such industry majors as Velmore Limited, the Dewhirst Group and Remploy.
