US: DSW and Zappos settle online marketing lawsuit

Footwear retailer DSW Inc and online rival Zappos have settled a lawsuit over the alleged misuse of trademarks on the web.

The lawsuit, which was brought by DSW in May 2008, claimed Zappos infringed its service marks by using the DSW name, plus store photographs, to make consumers think they were on a DSW-related website, before luring them onto the Zappos site.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
