Fibre giant DuPont-Toray Co has developed a technique to turn aramid fibres into spiral shapes – a development that could see it used in various applications including protective clothing.

The company said it came up with the heat and high-pressure steam process in collaboration with Gifu University and dyeing firm Tokai Senko KK.

It added patents have been filed and commercial production will be handled by Ichimura Sangyo Co.
