Leading fashion chain Next Plc on Tuesday posted a 1.3 per cent rise in same-store sales for the first 14 weeks of the current fiscal year.

The operator of more than 300 women's, men's and children's apparel and accessories stores said total sales for the period were up 14.5 per cent from the year prior with directory sales up 13 per cent year-on-year.

It added it plans to add 400,000 square feet of selling space this year and issue a sterling bond in the near future to refinance some of its borrowings.
