Sydney could add another week at the end of October 2001 to the autumn/winter (southern hemisphere) fashion show.

Simon Lock, organiser of the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week (MAFW), said in early July 2001 that demand has increased so much that there is a need to arrange for formal separate autumn/winter and spring/summer shows.

For several years, this was done on an ad hoc basis over an extended period. A three-day autumn/winter show in New Zealand could give Australian designers further opportunities to meet international buyers, he said.
