UK: Fashion triumph for Posh Spice
Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has been named the ultimate fashion icon in a new poll. Posh Spice triumphed in the joint survey by Channel 4 show She's Gotta Have It and readers of Company magazine. She beat supermodel Kate Moss into second place, with pop rival Nicole Appleton from All Saints third. Victoria makes no secret of her fondness for designer outfits and is often spotted on shopping trips with soccer star husband David. Sam Baker, editor of Company, said: "She's the celebrity above all others who has more women rushing to the high street to rip off her stylish look." The singer recently ditched her trademark dark locks for a new bleached look, although, not for the first time, she was outshone by David, who opted for a number one crop. Her most eyecatching outfit in recent weeks was a frayed denim mini skirt, complete with matching jacket and strappy shoes. Catwalk Earlier this year she took to the catwalk to show off the work of her favourite designer Maria Grachvogel at London Fashion Week. She drew gasps from the audience as she appeared in a pair of figure-hugging hotpants, before returning in an elegant burgundy evening gown. But despite her popularity, Victoria has also had to take a lot of criticism, particularly where it comes to her husband. She told chat show host Michael Parkinson David liked to wear her knickers, which she later claimed was a joke. She was also awarded a Silly Billy gong by customers of Butlins holiday camps for a series of incidents, including dressing son Brooklyn in a cowboy's outfit at her wedding. Since she became a mother, the Spice Girls' public appearances have been few and far between, but the group have consistently denied rumours that a split is imminent. Despite being the only member not to release a solo single, Victoria still managed to top The Observer's annual rich list for the under 30s recently, with estimated earnings of £25m
