FRANCE: Fast Retailing plans Paris flagship

Author: | 12 October 2007

Fast Retailing Co has announced it will open a flagship Uniqlo outlet in central Paris during 2009. This will be the Uniqlo's third major overseas store after those in New York and London.

Speaking about the timing for opening the 3,300 square metre store at a press conference, company director Masa Matsushita said: "We have already reached a basic agreement on a lease for the new outlet in the center of the French capital, but it will take a great deal of time to complete the procedures for obtaining a business license and renovating the store site."

Fast also plans to open its first French Uniqlo "antenna" store in the La Defense area of Paris in early December to gather information about popular items and consumer trends.

"We shall also be conducting marketing exercises (market research/comprehension), familiarising ourselves with local store operation, and determining the most appropriate image of Uniqlo to present to the French market," the company added in a statement.
