UK: Festive sales rise 5.9% at Matalan

Value fashion and homewares chain Matalan today (19 January) posted a 5.9% rise in like-for-like sales in the five weeks to 4 January, and said it managed to maintain margins over the festive period by avoiding hefty discounting.
