Footwear exports from Brazil grew 17 per cent year-on-year for the first quarter to US$451m, the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalcados) has revealed.

According to Abicalcados, Brazil is experiencing a shift in its traditional footwear export destinations, with exports to the United States dropping by US$24m during the quarter and exports to the United Kingdom rising by 35 per cent year-on-year to US$19.2m.

Last year, the South American country exported US$1.55 billion worth of footwear.
