FRANCE: Former DMC Tissus workers go on strike
By Stuart Todd | 26 March 2010
The 135 staff of SAIC-Velcorex Concord, formerly DMC Tissus, the fabrics division of Dollfus Mieg et Cie (DMC), have gone on strike for an unlimited period bringing production to a standstill.
They are protesting at the lack of information from management on the future of the company whose period under judicial protection is due to expire on 31 March 2010.
A union official said staff had not heard from the company’s owner, business rescue specialists Bernard Krief Consulting, for the past month.
Specialising in sportswear fabrics and velvet, SAIC-Velcorex Concord is based in Saint-Amarin, in eastern France.
