Trendy clothing firm French Connection Group Plc on Tuesday said it had enjoyed a solid start to the second half of the fiscal year and it expected that trend to continue.

The company behind the controversial FCUK slogan said same-store sales at its UK and European stores rose three per cent in the first six weeks of the second half and nine per cent in the United States.

French Connection, whose other brands include Nicole Farhi, added its first half underlying pre-tax profit rose by 34 per cent year-on-year to £13.7 million for the six months ended July 31.
