Textile firm Galey & Lord Inc has asked a bankruptcy court for a 90 day extension of its sole right to file a reorganisation plan and lobby for creditor support.

According to court papers, the company wants up to June 30 to file a reorganisation plan and until September 1 to gain creditor approval.

A judge will decide on the request early next week. Galey filed for Chapter 11 last year listing total assets of $694.4 million and $715m in liabilities as of December 29, 2001.
