Apparel giant Gap has set up a new buying office in London that will source fashion collections specifically aimed at European markets.

The venture represents Gap's first foray into bespoke couture within Europe following successful trials this autumn.

The bespoke range will be available in stores in the UK, France and Germany starting from autumn 2006.

Gap has appointed staff from its US-based merchandising and marketing operations to oversee the new office, but the European design personnel will be situated in New York.
