Genesco Inc on Friday said it plans to refocus its Johnston & Murphy shoe business on the high-end dress casual and dress segments of the market after weak sales in the operation led to a cut in fourth-quarter expectations.

Sales are likely to be between $249 million and $251 million for the fiscal fourth quarter ended 1 February, compared with $222 million a year earlier. Its same-store sales increased by 2.4 per cent for the quarter.

Charges associated with the Johnston & Murphy plan are expected to be $1.5 million to $1.9 million.
