The Philippine government has instigated reforms to the country's garment quota allocation system in an effort to bring the sector's export earnings up to $3.384bn in 2001 Asia Pulse reported. Exports stood at an estimated $3.2bn for 2000. The country ranks as the ninth largest supplier of apparel and textiles to the US according to US data from January to August 2000. It is also the number one supplier among Asean countries in terms of export value.
