A consortium including HGI Funding has completed the takeover of intimate apparel retailer Frederick's of Hollywood Group in a deal worth US$24.8m.

HGI Funding, a subsidiary of Harbinger Group, and a number of shareholders who collectively own 89% of the company's stock, offered to buy out the remaining shareholders for 27 cents per share last December.

The merger was approved by shareholders last week.

"We look forward to entering this new phase of the company's history and having access to the capital resources needed to implement a turnaround strategy that can take full advantage of the Frederick's of Hollywood brand," said company chairman and CEO Thomas Lynch.

Frederick's operates 94 retail stores, a catalogue and an online business.
