Clothing group Tommy Hilfiger Corp was on Monday reported to be considering a bid for the owner of the fast-growing J-Lo apparel range, The Sweetface Fashion Company.

The Independent said speculation is rife in Wall Street and Hong Kong that Hilfiger is keen on the group behind the fashions based on sexy singer and actress Jennifer Lopez.

The paper said Ms Lopez holds a half-stake in the firm with the other half held by Alan Hilfiger, Tommy's brother.

Hilfiger last week Thursday posted a fourth quarter net loss of nearly $114 million as it was hit by a hefty write-down at its US wholesale unit.
