Fashion technology specialist Human Solutions has developed a contact-free bodyscanner to acquire the measurements of people in 3D.

The scanner measures by means of optical triangulation (infrared light, 12 sensors) and adds to the firm's existing scanner family of 3D laser technology.

The company says the scanner is globally unique in that a scanatar is created in a fully-automatic process based on 3D depth sensors. The scanatar's dimensions correspond exactly to the body dimensions of the person being scanned.

The technology is particularly suitable for the virtual try-on procedure in apparel vendors' stores, the company says. At only one second, the scan time is short and the scanner takes up only 3m² of space, weighing 30kg.
