Apparel maker Hung Yen Garment Company has invested US$1.61 million in upgrading its manufacturing facility in the northern Vietnamese province of Hung Yen.

The company, which produces shirts and jackets, is to manufacture suits and sportswear as part of the 7000 square metre expansion and machinery upgrade.

As such, the company will focus on expanding domestic sales this year at its 49-store retail network and is targeting a 39 per cent rise in production.

Hung Yen Garment Company reported total production of US$4.51m and export revenue of US$9.6m in 2003.
