UK: International growth fuels Asos FY profit surge

By | 2 June 2011

  • FY underlying pre-tax profit up 41% to GBP28.6m
  • Retail sales up 58% to GBP324.1m
  • International retail sales up 142% to GBP140m

Online fashion retailer Asos recorded a surge in full-year profit, boosted by sales growth across the board and, in particular, from its expanding international operations.

A group revenue hike of 52% in the year to 31 March was led by international sales growth of 142%, with total retail sales rising 58% and UK retail sales moving up 25%.

“Our international expansion programme remains firmly on track,” said Asos CEO Nick Robertson.

“During the year we launched country-specific sites in the US, France and Germany, and we plan to launch three further country-specific sites in the coming financial year.

“We have continued our investment programme to meet anticipated growth targets. Key to this is the ongoing transition to a new 530,000sq ft warehouse in Barnsley, which will be fully operational by June 2011.”
