Textile company Intex Corp is set to shut down its fabric printing plant in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina by the end of June, bringing a loss of 115 jobs.

The 95,000-square-foot factory, which opened in the late 1980s, has the capacity to print 600,000 yards of fabric and bleach 120,000 pounds per week.

Local officials said closing the plant, Pilot Mountain's biggest water and sewer customer, would cost the town $130,000 to $150,000.

"They had been a good employer," town manager John Robertson said.

"It's unfortunate the whole family over there will be out of work."

Company officials have yet to comment on the move.
