Fashion group Jacques Vert on Wednesday named its new chairman and said trading in the first few months of this year was still strong despite tough market conditions.

The company named Derek Lovelock non-executive chairman following the sudden death of executive chairman Bill Reid in early April due to complications following surgery.

Lovelock is also chief executive of Oasis Stores while finance director Paul Allen was named chief executive of Vert and Chris Baker its new non-executive deputy chairman.

The retailer added in a press release that trading in the womenswear brands acquired as part of the acquisition of William Baird have continued to perform in line with expectations.
